Overview
Cryogenic liquid tanks store industrial gases as liquids at very low temperature (liquid oxygen at about -183 °C, liquid nitrogen at about -196 °C), which takes far less space than the same mass of compressed gas. A stainless steel inner vessel sits inside an outer shell with vacuum insulation between them; a pressure-building circuit keeps the tank at working pressure and a vaporiser turns liquid into gas for use. Micro-bulk tanks replace cylinder banks at hospitals, breweries, workshops and plants, while vertical or horizontal bulk tanks serve larger users.
