FGR-TPV-008 Tanks and pressure vessels

Steam accumulator

A horizontal carbon-steel pressure vessel that stores energy as pressurised hot water and releases steam to cover peaks in demand.

  • Specification confirmed with the OEM before you order
  • Warranty and support set out in your quotation
  • Freight to your site or port available

Overview

A steam accumulator is partly filled with water and charged with boiler steam; when downstream demand rises and pressure falls, some of the stored water flashes to steam, smoothing out load swings on the boiler. Accumulators suit batch processes such as retorts, autoclaves and sterilisers. Sizing depends on the steam quantity required during peaks, the pressure swing available between charging and discharge, the vessel volume and the pressure rating.

Typical applications

  • Buffering peak steam demand from batch processes
  • Supporting undersized or slow-responding boilers
  • Steam supply for autoclaves, retorts and sterilisers
  • Storing steam from waste-heat or biomass boilers
