Overview
Rotary hammers use an electro-pneumatic mechanism to deliver high impact energy to the bit, making them far more effective in concrete than percussion drills. Selection depends on the impact energy and maximum hole diameter needed, the chuck system (SDS-plus for lighter work, SDS-max for heavier), the available modes such as chisel-only, and tool weight and vibration for the operator.
Typical applications
- Drilling anchor holes in concrete
- Installing services and fixings
- Light chiselling and tile removal
- Drilling in steel and wood with an adaptor chuck
