Overview
Auto-darkening helmets use a liquid-crystal filter triggered by arc sensors, so the welder can see clearly while positioning and is protected as soon as the arc starts. Selection depends on the shade range for the processes and currents used, switching speed, number of sensors (more sensors help with obstructed views), viewing area and the power supply arrangement.
