Overview

Angle grinders are hand-held power tools that drive abrasive cutting, grinding, flap or wire-brush discs at high speed through a right-angle gearhead. Large-frame 230 mm machines are used for heavy steel fabrication, weld preparation and cutting of metal, masonry and concrete, while smaller 115-125 mm units suit lighter finishing work. Disc diameter, rated input power, no-load speed and spindle thread determine which accessories can be used safely.

Typical applications

  • Cutting steel sections, pipe and plate
  • Weld preparation and grinding
  • Cutting masonry and concrete with suitable discs
  • Surface preparation and rust removal
