Overview
Half-face respirators seal over the nose and mouth and clean the inhaled air through replaceable cartridges or filters. Selection depends on the contaminant (particulates, organic vapours, acid gases, ammonia), the concentration relative to exposure limits, correct fit for the wearer, and the availability of compatible replacement cartridges; fit testing and a cartridge change-out schedule are part of using them safely.
