Overview
Liquid oxygen (LOX) tanks hold oxygen as a cryogenic liquid at about -183 °C, which takes far less space than the same mass of compressed gas. A stainless steel inner vessel sits inside an outer shell with vacuum insulation between them; a pressure-building circuit keeps the tank at working pressure and a vaporiser turns liquid into gas for use. Micro-bulk tanks replace cylinder banks at hospitals, workshops and plants, while vertical or horizontal bulk tanks serve larger users.
