Overview
Each stage adds head, so a vertical multistage pump reaches high delivery pressures at modest flows without a large casing; suction and discharge are usually in line for easy pipe installation. Selection depends on the duty point (flow and head), the liquid and its corrosiveness (which drives stainless steel grade), operating temperature and pressure, and the motor size and supply.
