Progressive cavity (single screw) pump
A positive displacement pump in which a helical rotor turning inside an elastomer stator moves sealed cavities of liquid from suction to discharge with low pulsation.

Overview
Progressive cavity pumps give a near-steady flow proportional to speed, handle viscous liquids, sludges and fluids containing solids, and treat shear-sensitive products gently, which also makes them suitable for metering and dosing. Selection depends on flow and pressure (number of stages), viscosity and solids content, the stator elastomer and rotor material for chemical and temperature compatibility, and the shaft seal arrangement.
