Overview
Squirrel-cage induction motors are the standard prime mover for pumps, fans, compressors, conveyors and process machinery. IE3 (premium efficiency) units, defined under IEC 60034-30-1, reduce losses compared with IE1/IE2 motors and are required by minimum efficiency regulations in many regions. IEC frame standardisation allows motors from different makers to be interchanged on mounting dimensions and shaft height.
