Overview

A pressure transmitter converts process pressure acting on a sensing diaphragm into a standardised electrical signal, most commonly a loop-powered 4-20 mA current that is robust over long cable runs to PLC, DCS or SCADA systems. Gauge and absolute versions are used to monitor and control pumps, compressors, pipelines, vessels and hydraulic systems. Selection depends on pressure range, accuracy, process connection, wetted materials, medium temperature and ingress or hazardous-area protection.

Typical applications

  • Pipeline and pump discharge pressure monitoring
  • Compressed air, gas and steam pressure measurement
  • Hydraulic system pressure
  • Tank and vessel pressure control loops
