FGR-EIC-011 Electrical and instrumentation

Automatic power factor correction capacitor bank

A low-voltage cabinet of switched capacitor steps, controlled by a power factor regulator, that offsets inductive reactive power on a site's supply.

  • Specification confirmed with the OEM before you order
  • Warranty and support set out in your quotation
  • Freight to your site or port available

Overview

Automatic power factor correction (APFC) panels switch capacitor steps in and out to keep the power factor near a target value, which can lower reactive-energy and demand charges and free up transformer and cable capacity. Selection depends on the kvar required, supply voltage, step sizes, harmonic levels (which may require detuning reactors) and the switching method.

Typical applications

  • Main LV boards of factories and plants
  • Sites with large motor loads
  • Reducing reactive-energy and demand charges
  • Releasing transformer capacity
