Overview
Hammer mills reduce granular materials such as maize, wheat, sorghum and oilseed cake by repeated impact from hammers mounted on a rotor turning inside a grinding chamber. Final particle size is controlled mainly by the screen aperture, hammer tip speed and feed rate. They are a core machine in animal-feed mills and are also used for biomass and some mineral grinding.
