Disc stack separator centrifuge, a stainless steel vertical separator with its conical bowl hood and pipework on a skid in a brewery

FGR-MFG-006 Process and manufacturing machinery

Disc stack separator centrifuge

A vertical high-speed centrifuge that uses a stack of conical discs to clarify liquids or separate two liquids and fine solids continuously.

  • Specification confirmed with the OEM before you order
  • Warranty and support set out in your quotation
  • Freight to your site or port available

Overview

Disc stack separators generate far higher G-forces than decanters, so they remove fine solids and split immiscible liquids such as oil and water or cream and skim milk. Two-phase machines clarify a liquid; three-phase machines separate two liquids plus solids. Selection depends on throughput, solids content, the density difference between phases and the solids discharge method.

Typical applications

  • Clarification of juices, beer and other liquids
  • Oil-water separation
  • Milk skimming and clarification
  • Fermentation broth and extract separation
  • Biodiesel and vegetable oil processing
